Friday 25th December
We opened the pickled onions that I made earlier in the year, these were nice and crunchy and enjoyed some red currant jelly with our turkey that mum made from our frozen berries. All of it was very tasty!
It has been very cold, snowy and icy for a couple of weeks. Chickens are doing ok and the allotment will have to wait for us to get there. Luckily we are doing some brewing, details of which will appear under a new section on this site.
Sunday 20th December
We went in the snow and ice to take compost and harvest turnip, parsnip, salsify, leek, cabbage, sprouts, beetroot and the last carrot (we have some in the freezer). Ground was quite solid but the mud came off slightly more easily than last time we were down!
Saturday 5th December
Me and dad took the compost to the allotment, harvested parsnip, turnip, salsify, leek and cabbage. I washed them under the tap with a brush while dad did some digging.
